Canvas

Canvas is Onnie’s showcase and portal artifact: a frozen, versioned HTML surface the agent authors and the workspace keeps. Use it for mockups, decks, live dashboards, and builder-granted mini-apps on top of real tables — not as a second page editor or spreadsheet.

Open a canvas from the library or a deliverable link. Share and present from the canvas panel. Pages may embed a live canvas view; public links are a separate consume path.

How to use it

  1. Ask the agent to create or rebuild a canvas (slash /canvas locks artifact tools for the turn).
  2. Consume the rendered stage in the panel — fit modes control how the artboard sits in the host.
  3. Live data — when the builder declared bindings, members (and public read links) see fresh table data on load.
  4. Interactive portals — builder-granted actions let authenticated members submit bounded writes (e.g. form insert); collab viewers only get simpler granted actions.
  5. Share / export from the panel when you need HTML, PDF, or PNG (member hosts).

Three artifacts, one bridge: notes know · pages publish · canvas shows. The bridge from a page is a live canvas embed — not live table embeds inside prose.

Key distinctions

Canvas ≠ Page ≠ Table

Pages are longform writing. Tables are structured data. Canvas is the rendered showcase / portal. Do not turn a page into a dashboard of live table embeds — that job moved to Canvas.

Collab seats

Viewers consume canvases and may run only builder-granted simple actions. They do not author canvases or get full table admin.

Public Form is a different artifact

Public intake with a share link is Forms. Canvas portal actions are for authenticated members on builder-granted writes — not a substitute public form.

  • Public canvas links: live reads and scripts; no portal writes, no export.
  • Agent edits polish with surgical replace or full rebuild — you work the result in the panel, not the engine loop.
