Concepts
Shared nouns used across Onnie. Keep this page short — depth lives on each section.
1 · Long horizon (chat vs Work)
Chat is private and live: one human ↔ one agent. Transcripts stay in that chat.
A Task (Work) is the shared spine for effort that outlives a conversation: goal, current focus, plan steps, blockers, digests, deliverables, comments. Many people and agents can participate; each person still runs the agent in their own bound chat.
Long horizon means the spine — not a Kanban board. You re-enter via goal + focus + digests, not by rereading every message.
One human ↔ one agent. Streaming work. Transcript never becomes the shared record by itself.
Workspace-visible spine: goal, focus, plan, digests, deliverables. Bound chats hang off it.
2 · Slash / vs @
Both appear in Connected prose (composer and some goals). They do different jobs.
@ reference | / slash lock | |
|---|---|---|
| Meaning | Point at an entity or skill (“talk about this”) | Lock behaviour for this turn (or for a Goal) |
| Examples | @ a page, task, skill | /page, /task, /canvas, /form, /automations, invoke a skill by / |
| Feel | Mention / open / discuss | Structured intent + tool readiness |
You pick one slash lock per send (or Goal). Residual text after the pill is normal prose. @ and / are not interchangeable for skills: @ skill references; / skill invokes the procedure for that turn.
3 · Skills vs standing instructions vs memory
| Noun | Job |
|---|---|
| Skills | Progressive procedures in the workspace library. Catalog is always visible to the agent; full body loads when needed (or preload on custom agents). |
| Standing instructions | Ongoing policy for the room (workspace / project ONNIE.md-style standing rules) — not a skill body. |
| Memory | What the agent retains about context over time — not a substitute for skills or Work digests. |
Agents do work. Skills teach agents. Connectors plug in the outside world.
4 · Surfaces (one-line each)
| Surface | One line |
|---|---|
| Work | Shared tasks and continuity |
| Calendar | Time lens on those tasks (Month · Week · Day · Timeline) |
| Agents | Onnie, custom agents, skills, connectors, blueprints |
| Artifacts | Tables, pages, Canvas, forms, images you keep |
| Routines | Task-routines that fire into Work |
| Automations | Event rules when forms or records change |
| Workspace | Projects, people, seats, settings |
